In February, as part of Black History Month, “The Idan Raichel Project” is coming to campus. The Idan Raichel Project is a unique multicultural music group from Israel. It is currently one of Israel's leading music groups, which took Israel by storm when their first album came out three years ago and introduced a groundbreaking fusion of traditional Ethiopian music and Israeli pop. Their lyrics and music, which include both Hebrew and Amharic prayers, and non-religious songs is a unique fusion that represents the authentic multicultural voice of Israel's young generation, as reflected in the full spectrum of ethnic diversity of the band members. The music, instruments, and lyrics are taken both from Israeli and Ethiopian African culture, and are beautifully integrated into a new sound.
Tickets will be sold on White Plaza Noon-1: Thursday Feb. 3 and Monday Feb. 7 and are available during any weekday at the Ziff Center for Jewish Life (on the corner of Mayfield and Campus)
