A high level of fluency in Spanish is NOT required to enjoy the show:
A highly idiosyncratic series of dialogues about frustrations of love relationships, the plays in "Aerobicos del amor" range from dangerously comic to seriously hilarious. The evening of theater will include three short plays: "La noche dividida" by well-known Spanish playwright Paloma Pedero, "Diatriba de amor contra un hombre sentado," by Colombian Nobel prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and "Casa chica" by the award winning Mexican writer Sabina Berman.
"La noche dividida" describes the hapless adventures of a Bible salesman who strives mightly to sell his products to a tipsy soap opera actress. "Diatriba de amor" features a housewife who is trying to inform her inattentive husband, on the occasion of their wedding anniversary, that the relationship is definitely over and she's leaving him the next day. "Casa chica" invites us into the home of an industrialist's long time mistress and focuses on the man's frustration with her-and with his life-as she calmly dresses for an evening out.
