The Stanford Palm Project distributed handheld digital computers to all pre-clinical students at Stanford Medical School to help students learn medical concepts as well as to prepare them to practice medicine in the coming era of mobile computing. Todd Grappone, Associate Directorof IRT and Head of Computing Systems at Lane Medical Library, will discuss the project's instantaneous assessment module, which uses a web-based polling server developed by medical students and the Stanford University School of Medicine's IT group.
