"The Emergence of States: Archaeological Studies of the First Civilizations," Henry T. Wright, Ph.D., Department of Anthropology, University of Michigan

Henry T.Wright is Professor of Anthropology at the Department of Anthropology and Curator of Near Eastern Archaeology at the Museum of Anthropology, University of Michigan. His research focuses on the problem of the origins of primary states from a context of interacting pre-state societies. Dr. Wright continues research today on Early Mesopotamia, in Turkey and Syria . He is affiliated with the Santa Fe Institute for the study of complex systems.

The Winter Colloquium of the Morrison Institute for Population and Resource Studies encourages interdisciplinary approaches to research and teaching in areas related to the global issues of population growth, environmental change, resource use, and economic development. Credit is available for HumBio 60 and BioSci 146.
