Three One-Acts, performing in Repertory:
"Disco Pigs," by Enda Walsh
Directed by Ljubisa Matic
Pig and Runt are two 17-year-olds who share everything: birthday, language,
worldview... and that moment when pop songs and life-changing orgasms flash
by and last forever... They develop their own language and oblivious to the
outside world nurture and protect their insular world. What evolves is an
explosive yet warped love story, a poignantly funny
two-hander full of sound and movement, about the fragility of this couple's exclusive world.
"Knives in Hens," by David Harrower.
Directed by Ileana Drinovan
"Knives in Hens" is a love triangle in a pre-industrial village; a Young Woman married to a ploughman becomes fascinated with the village miller and explores her understanding and redefinition of the world. The quest proves sexy and violent, and the outcome questions current understanding of the proper rights and motivations for personal empowering.
"The Seagull" (Act I), by Anton Chekhov.
Directed by Rachel Anderson
Konstantin Treplev is a young artist, full of passion and ideals. The scene begins on the opening night of his first play, written in hopes of realizing a new theatrical form. In Konstantin's starring role is Nina, his artistic muse and the focus of his adoration. Although she is dismayed by Konstantin's abstract play, she pours her heart into the performance and desperately attempts to captivate her audience. It is, as Chekhov termed it, a text made up of “a play, the outdoors, and five tons of love.”
