The mission of Cool Product Expo is to generate interest in and excitement around "cool" products and companies in the field of manufacturing and design among the GSB, and the Stanford and local communities at large. An attendee walking through the expo will likely encounter budding start-ups, university research lab projects, the latest R&D from global manufacturers, the best from local design studios, and more. We invite exhibitors from a variety of industries that practice innovation by way of design, function, and/or technology. Last year we had over 40 exhibitors and well over 800 attendees.
How do we define "cool"?
As with beauty, primarily in the eye of the beholder. However, we try to focus on the following in selecting those companies and products we believe are "cool."
• Ready - end user products, not components
• Factor - coolness is readily apparent, requires no explanation
• Edge - radically new, not just an improvement on an existing product
• Function - the essential combination of design and manufacturing
