Father David Fontes, an eastern Orthodox priest and a licensed clinical psychologist, will speak on self-value, discussing the difference between a human-centered self-esteem that gives little lasting peace, and a God-centered self-value that comes from knowing our value in the eyes of our Creator. As the title suggests, he will address the issue from an Orthodox perspective, but it will also capture some of his psychology experience and training.
The talk will answer such questions as: Where does our true sense of personal value originate? Why do we tend to doubt our God-given value? How does a poor sense of self-value lead to disfunction? How do we regain our God-given sense of personal value? What is the difference between personal self-esteem and God-created self-value?
Father David has been both a Catholic and a Protestant in the past, he is also familiar with those traditions.
