Jim Cullum Jazz Band

Stars of Public Radio International's "Riverwalk: Live from the Landing," the Jim Cullum Jazz Band has a great time bringing the past into focus. A longtime favorite of Stanford Jazz Festival audiences, the San Antonio-based group reinvigorates old favorites for contemporary audiences. Leader Jim Cullum plays a cornet similar to the one used by the legendary Bix Beiderbecke, and each band member is an expert in period instruments and performance. But this isn't a group stuck in the past—the band's distinctive, high-test style pours joyfully out of every number. With the Jim Cullum Jazz Band, the music is alive and definitely kicking.
