First Annual Stanford Graduate Student Conference in Cultural and Social Anthropology: Anthropology of the State, the State of Anthropology

The graduate student conference aims to bring together students, alumni and professors from the San Francisco Bay area and beyond in the interests of interdisciplinary research, with particular regard to anthropology and cultural studies. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, we will investigate how the State is implicated in research, as well as in the changing paradigms of the fields. Expected topics will range, for example, from nation building in Iraq to the state of American culture in a global context.
