Spring Environmental Forum - "Nature and the Economy"

The Stanford Institute for the Environment invites you to its Spring Environmental Forum, featuring Sir Partha Dasgupta, who will be speaking on "Nature and the Economy." Professor Dasgupta is internationally known for his contributions to the understanding of linkages between economic development, natural resource use, environmental quality, and human welfare. He has received many international honors, including the Volvo Prize for environmental research, and he was recently knighted in Great Britain. He will suggest ways to reconcile apparent disagreements between natural scientists and economists, specifically focusing on sustainable development and the use of discount rates in environmental policy analysis. Professor Dasgupta is the Frank Ramsey Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of St John's College in the United Kingdom.
