Philippe Met: The Poetics of the Notebook

As an increasing number of poets make public the notebooks that they use to jot down ideas and phrases for poems, the poetic notebook is slowly becoming a genre in itself. What are the constraints and possibilities of this format? What is the relation between the poetic sketch and the published poem? Philippe Met, a leading scholar of twentieth-century French poetry and poetics at the University of Pennsylvania, will address these questions and more in his forthcoming presentation.
