Aulos Ensemble

As the royal barge of King George I of England floated down the Thames, a new composition

was performed of such beauty that the ecstatic monarch ordered it played three times over.

Relive that festive night in 1717 as 17 musicians perform Handel's Water Music Suites as

the king would have heard it--on period instruments and in its entirety. With artistic

vibrancy and technical brilliance, the ensemble extends the glorious evening with another

of the period's seminal works, Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, as well

as Georg Muffat's Sonata No. 5.
