David Finckel, cello and Wu Han, piano

Passion on a grand scale is what the members of this married duo feel for each other and

their music as they reveal an intimate playing style and an uncommon musical rapport. The

California premiere of Lera Auerbach's Sonata No. 1 exemplifies a classical and

contemporary repertoire that is as vast and varied as their musical activities, which

include directing music festivals and managing their own record label.

PRE-PERFORMANCE DISCUSSION: 6:45 pm

"At the height of the slow movements they are lovers longing for fulfillment. In the

tumult of the fast movements, they are argumentative spouses battling for the last

word...Marriage never sounded so perfect." --Evening Standard (London)
