Emerson String Quartet with Edgar Meyer, bass

Universally acclaimed in both classical and bluegrass circles, Edgar Meyer joins the

Emerson String Quintet in an evening of unforgettable music making. Astoundingly

versatile, the Tennessee-born double bassist and composer has collaborated with everyone

from Yo-Yo Ma to Garth Brooks to Chick Corea. This concert showcases his string quintet, a

Lively Arts co-commission from 1995 that fuses bluegrass, jazz, and folk elements with a

glimmer of humor. Eugene Drucker, violin; Philip Setzer, violin; Lawrence Dutton, viola;

David Finckel, cello; Edgar Meyer, bass.

"If there is a type of music bassist Edgar Meyer shouldn't be playing, he doesn't want to

hear about it." --Boston Herald
