2006 Tanner Lectures -- David B. Davis (History, Yale University) "Exiles, Exodus, & Promised Lands"
Professor Davis' 2 lectures will deal with the central issue of "colonizing" freed African Americans, an issue put forth as early as the 1710s and embraced by Abraham Lincoln during most of the Civil War. The second lecture will be on Thurs 2/23. There will also be two discsussion groups; one on Thurs 2/23 and one on Fri 2/24.
