This month's linux user's group meeting features a talk by Jawed Karim (www.jawed.com), a master's student in Stanford's CS program and co-founder of YouTube.com, a new website for hosting and sharing
personal video clips. It is often referred to as 'the Flickr of Video. Jawed previously worked at PayPal where he was one where he was one of the first engineers and stayed on
for five years. Jawed will be speaking about about how YouTube manages to remain scalable,
serving up hundreds of thousands of videos per day, using open-source
tools such as Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Python). YouTube easily
survived the recent Slashdot effect with no noticable performance impact.
