Fiona Watt is the Director of the Centre for Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine at King's College London. She is internationally known for detailing the mechanisms that control epidermal stem cell renewal, differentiation, and tissue aggregation. She is also known for discovering how each of those processes' regulations are removed in diseased cells. Professor Watt is an elected fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal Society, and recently received the 2016 FEBS | EMBO Women in Science Award. The FEBS | EMBO Women in Science Award recognizes outstanding achievements of female researchers in life sciences. Winners of the award are role models who inspire future generations of researchers.
