The Program in Bioethics and Film, Medicine and the Muse, Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics are proud to present a screening of the 2017 Academy Award nominated short documentary film, Extremis, with a discussion and Q&A following the screening featuring Dr. Jessica Zitter and Dr. Shoshana Ungerleider

Extremis follows patients and their families as they struggle to deal with end-of-life decisions while in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Highland Hospital. It documents Dr. Jessica Zitter MD, MPH Critical and Palliative Care Physician at Highland hospital, ICU patients, and their families, as they navigate difficult and complicated end-of-life choices.
Shoshana Ungerleider, MD is an internist practicing hospital medicine at California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco. She founded the Ungerleider Palliative Care Education Fund to support innovative programs that further palliative care education at every level and was a major funder of Extremis.
