Memorial Church has historically been an important center of spiritual and ceremonial life at Stanford University since the church was dedicated in 1903. It is open to anyone, wherever you may be on your spiritual journey. Please join us at University Public Worship, Sunday mornings at 10:00 am in this spectacular and sacred venue.

The Rev. John Harrison will be preaching.

A native of New York City,
The Reverend John Harrison is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology – Mgt. & Technology
(‘77); The College of New Rochelle – BA, Psychology (‘91); Princeton Theological Seminary – Master of
Divinity (‘94); and as a Clinical Pastoral Education Candidate studied Clinical Counseling and
Supervision at Stanford University Medical Center. In 2012, Reverend Harrison was granted certification
as an ACPE (Association of Clinical Pastoral Education) Supervisor. Reverend Harrison has provided
Pastoral leadership to congregations in Yonkers, N.Y.; Oakland, CA; and Palo Alto, Ca. He currently
serves as: Chaplain, Director of Spiritual Care – El Camino Hospital, Mountain View, CA; Pastor, Saint
Mark AME Zion Church of East Palo Alto, CA– where he leads the congregation in the construction of a
new church (scheduled to be dedicated November 2015); Director of Pastoral Care for the Western
Episcopal District of the AME ZION Church; Pastoral Associate - Stanford University Memorial Church,
Stanford CA. Reverend Harrison is married to the Twila Harrison; together they share the lives of their
five adult children and two grand children.
