Opportunities and Challenges of Designing Interactive Systems

Jim Hollan, Professor of Cognitive Science and Co-Director of the Distributed Cognition and Human-Computer Interaction Lab at the University of California, San Diego, explores the cognitive consequences of computationally-based representations. Based on his current work in multiscale information visualization and video-based ethnography, he will discuss opportunities and challenges in designing interactive systems.
