Understanding Pornography: Production, Content, Audiences, and Why it Matters for College Women

Before making moral and political judgments about pornography, it is important to understand the industry. Pornography can best be understood by treating it as any other media genre, analyzing production, content, and

reception. What does pornography say: What are the themes in its content? How is pornography used: What effects does it have on audiences? Based on scholarly research and activist experience around issues of violence against women, School of Journalism professor at the University of Texas, Robert Jensen will explore these questions, particularly with regard to how these issues affect the campus climate for women students.
