The Potential of Distributed Learning Environments: Lessons from the Center of Informal Learning and Schools

Rob Semper, Executive Associate Director of the Exploratorium and a physicist and science educator, will present his work with the Center for Informal Learning and Schools (CILS) , an NSF program creating research, scholarship, and leadership in the arena of informal learning and the relationship of informal science institutions and schools. The partnership

between the Exploratorium, UC Santa Cruz and Kings College in London, CILS is concerned with making K-12 science education more compelling and accessible to a diverse student population. He will discuss the challenges and implications of creating and maintaining distributed learning environments.
