Matt Kahn: A Commemorative Exhibition-55 Years of Teaching at Stanford

January 10-February 6, 2006: A commemorative art exhibition celebrating 55 years of teaching by art professor Matt Kahn. The exhibition focuses on Kahn's development as a painter and his influence on decades of students. This is a special restrospective exhibition that include themes as various as icons and artifacts to sound and music. His work is both emotive, whimsical and political such as "Preying Mantis Praying," 2003, referring to the preadatorial metaphor of Osama Bin Laden and others who "use faith and prayer as a guise or justification for their heinoues acts," Kahn explains. Photo: "Myth," 2003," acrylic on structured canvas.
