Rodolfo Dirzo, Dept. of Biological Sciences, Stanford University: "A Forest Is More Than Its Plants: Ecological Consequences of Defaunation"

Dr. Dirzo investigates plant-animal interactions, trying to understand how the ecology and evolution of plants is affected by their biotic environment, particularly animals. His work focuses on tropical forest ecosystems. In the field of conservation biology, he is interested in studying the consequences of anthropogenic impact on the disruption of ecological processes, particularly biotic interactions.
