"Proof", a movie screening for IRWG's Women in Mathematics Day

Following an afternoon of discussion on women in mathematics, the Institute for Research on Women and Gender invites you to a free screening of the 2005 movie "Proof" (PG-13), based on the play of the same name by David Auburn. Catherine, a talented young mathematician played by Gwyneth Paltrow, gives up her opportunities to look after her ailing father, also a distinguished mathematician. After his death, a notebook is discovered containing an amazing mathematical proof.

Screening to be followed by audience discussion moderated by Dr Jonathan Farley, mathematician and Science Fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation, Stanford.
