Think global, #TravelLocal? Harnessing social media for sustainability.

Every year, 124 million Americans take vacations. They’re traveling farther than ever, averaging 1,200 miles per trip. Transportation -- particularly airplane travel -- is a leading source of greenhouse-gas emissions. But can blurring the status signal associated with long distance travel lead people to stay closer to home for their holidays? One idea now being tested: a #TravelLocal social-media campaign.
