RESCHEDULED - From the Innovator's Workbench - Richard Gonzalez, Abbott Labs

The Stanford Biodesign Innovation Program, in cooperation with Windhover Information, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and PricewaterhouseCoopers, presents a unique opportunity to hear Richard Gonzalez, interviewed by David Cassak, Managing Partner, Windhover Information.

Gonzalez joined Abbott on June 1, 1977, and has held several positions in Abbott's diagnostics division. In 1992, he was named divisional vice president and general manager for Abbott's diagnostic operations in the United States and Canada. He was elected vice president, Abbott HealthSystems Division, in 1995. In February 1998, Gonzalez was elected senior vice president, hospital products. Gonzalez was elected president and chief operating officer, medical products, by Abbott's board of directors effective December 14, 2001, and was also elected to Abbott's board of directors.

Prior to joining Abbott, Gonzalez was a research biochemist at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Gonzalez earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Houston and a master's degree in biochemistry from the University of Miami.

He is a member of the board of directors of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Shedd Aquarium, and AdvaMed.
