This colloquium will be given by Associate Professor Sean Hartnoll of the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics.

Abstract: I will present two results that constrain the behavior of general local quantum systems at nonzero temperature. These results are especially informative for strongly interacting systems where perturbation theory is inapplicable and numerical computations of real time processes prohibitive.
