Currently on view in the display cases on the East Asia Library's third floor landing, "An Accidental Photographer: Seoul 1969" features the photography of Dr. Margaret Condon Taylor, who captured these images while in Seoul as a Peace Corps volunteer.  The photographs offer glimpses into the changing scenes of ordinary Korean life during a period of rapid modernization.  This exhibition was first displayed at the Institute for the Humanities at the University of Michigan, where Dr. Taylor is an alumna, marking the first public showing of these photographs in nearly fifty years.  It is currently on loan to the Stanford East Asia Library from Asia Library, University of Michigan Library, with support from the Nam Center for Korean Studies, University of Michigan.
