Images of the Greek Diaspora of the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1900s"

Steefenie Wicks, an African American woman, followed the trail of a Christian photographer to a Muslim country. Ms. Wicks' photographic work is part of many private collections and was displayed at the Scott Nichols Gallery in San Francisco, CA. She has a BA in Photography from San Francisco State University, and has worked as a photographic spotter and etcher for Imogen Cunningham Trust.

The "Eyes of Hope" has been exhibited since the fall of 1998. The body of work is printed from the collection of over 300 glass plate negatives that are the photographic work of Greek photographer, Leonidas Pantotis. The glass plate negatives date back from 1914 to 1922 and are protrait images of San Francisco's first Greek Community.
