As part of the Faculty Perspective Series, Professor Charbel Farhat will share his experiences and insights about the academic life to PhD students and postdocs who are pursuing academic positions. Professor Farhat is the Chairman of the Aeronautics and Astronautics Department, Professor in Mechanical of Engineering and Professor in the Institute of Computational and Mathematical Engineering. He has supervised more than 50 postdocs and 40 PhD student over the course of his career. He received his Diploma d’Ingenieur from Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures (Paris) (1983); MS Applied Mechanics from University de Paris VI, France (1983); MS Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics from University of California, Berkeley (1984); MS Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from University of California, Berkeley (1986); PhD Civil Engineering from University of California, Berkeley (1987).
