Inday Espina-Varona is a Philippine journalist who was the investigative news chief of the "Manila Times" and has won many awards for her work. She has been the editor-in-chief of the weekly news magazine "Philippine Graphic" since 2003.

As chairperson of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, she has been an advocate for journalist safety. The Philippines is the second most dangerous country in the world to be a journalist [see your daily newspaper for details on raids on Philippine newspaper offices that happened over the weekend]. Inday has been actively opposing the war in Iraq and she is spending her fellowship year researching “Women at war and women at peace: grafting lessons from struggle and rebellion onto conflict-resolution models”. Inday will share her experiences and views as an international journalist.
