Red Fallujah: Broken Promises and the U.S Occupation

Weary of "embedded" reporters and sanitized media coverage, Dahr

Jamail went to Iraq to report on the war himself. Jamail was one of

the very few independent US journalists in the country who sought to

unearth powerful stories of average Iraqis struggling to survive

under increasingly oppressive conditions that the mainstream media

ignored.

Jamail also spent extensive time in "problematic" Fallujah,

painstakingly documenting the

effects of the April 2003 U.S. army incursion that virtually

destroyed the city and killed

hundreds of civilians . With Iraq plunged deeper into sectarian

conflict than ever before and the U.S. occupation showing no sign of

coming to an end, Jamail examines how from the very beginning,

promises were made and quickly broken during the last three years,

often with disastrous repercussions.

As we approach the three-year anniversary of the war, join us

for a thought-provoking event with Jamail as we review where we are

today in Iraq and where the future may lead.
