Mothers Who Kill: The Problem of Contemporary American Infanticide

With Michelle Oberman, Professor of Law at Santa Clara University. Although each case involving a mother killing her child carries its unique horror, a closer examination of these cases reveals them to be patterned, and even predictable. Professor Oberman's work describes the categories of infanticide cases, and discusses the ways in which they are responsive to, and reflective of, the structure of motherhood in contemporary U.S. society.
