Manifesto - Film Screening

World renown filmmaker, Dusan Makavejev, will visit Stanford April 10-13 and will attend a screening of his film, "Manifesto" (1988) on April 11. A conversation with the filmmaker will begin at 630 pm, moderated by Professor Pavle Levi of Film and Media Studies. The screening of "Manifesto" will begin at 7:00 pm. This controversial Yugoslav director began his film career with shorts after graduating in psychology and film and writing film criticism from 1956 to 1964. He then began to shoot some films experimentally. Often known as the "Master of Subversion," Makavejev is known for his anarchical and provocative films. In "Manifesto," (starring Eric Stoltz) Makavejev recedes to the Balkans in the 1920s to include intrigue, murder, repression, black humor and sexual liberation.
