Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki: the Public and Environmental Health Impacts of Nuclear Weapons

Even 60 years after the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, nuclear weapons proliferation and development still hold singular relevance in US military policy in the world. Dr. Robert Gould, President, S.F. Bay Area Chapter, Physicians for Social Responsibility, will deliver a fascinating presentation reviewing the health and environmental impacts of that attack, as well as those stemming from the ensuing development, production, testing, and deployment of new nuclear weapons. Highlights will include an examination of the dangers of an “accidental” nuclear war and the global threat of the nuclear arms race.
