Where Are the Cyborgs in Cybernetics?

Talk by Ronald R. Kline, Cornell University. Comment: Fred Turner. Ron Kline is Bovay Professor of History and Ethics of Engineering at Cornell University, where he holds a joint appointment between the Science & Technology Studies Department and the School of Electrical Engineering. He is the author of "Steinmetz: Engineer and Socialist" (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 1992), and "Consumers in the Country: Technology and Social Change in Rural America" (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2000). His current research project is a book on the social history of cybernetics and information theory in the United States.

This presentation is part of the new series "Stanford Seminar on Science, Technology, and Society," which will convene at noon each Friday of spring quarter.
