As part of International Month, Bechtel International Center is hosting an Afghan music concert featuring Matt Wright on Afghan robab and herati dutar, Biz Iqbal on tablas, and Larry Klein on turkomen dutar.
Afghan music celebrates the divine intoxication of love and music, from lyrical settings of the mystical poetry of Afghan native Rumi and folk songs of loss and longing, to rocking party melodies. The traditional music of Afghanistan reveals its place as the crossroads of the Silk Road, with influences from Indian and Persian classical genres as well as Central Asian folk styles.
