Dr. John Etchemendy: Stanford's Interdisciplinary Initiatives

Dr. John Etchemendy, Provost and Patrick Suppes Family Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences, will be the speaker for the Distinguished Stanford Faculty Program Series.

Dr. Etchemendy received his B. A. and M. A. in Philosophy from the University of Nevada, Reno and earned his doctorate in Philosophy at Stanford University. He is also a faculty member of the Symbolic Systems Program and a senior researcher at the Center for the Study of Language and Information.

In 1988, Professor Etchemendy received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching; in 1992 he received the Bing Award for Excellence in Teaching and in 1997 was awarded the Educom Medal for leadership in the application of technology to the teaching of logic.

He is the author or co-author of seven books and numerous articles in logic.
