Kuumba African Dance and Drum Ensemble Presents: Mahadhi - Rhythms of the People

Kuumba African Dance and Drum Ensemble was created in the 1970s by a group of students who wished to perform traditional African, African-American, and jazz dance as a small ensemble. Our 2006 Spring Show entitled "Mahadhi: Rhythms of the People", will feature music, live drumming, and a variety of dances that extend throughout Africa and the African Diaspora, including West African, Ethiopian, Afro-Haitian, Congolese, and more. Hosted by Ngosa "Whoopi" Chungu and featuring guest performances by Mariachi Cardenal de Stanford, Talisman, Arabesque Middle Eastern Dance, and the Stanford Spoken Word Collective, our Spring Show promises to be an amazing event.
