The 2nd Annual Reel Black Film Festival (sponsored by the Committee on Black Performing Arts)

The Committee on Black Performing Arts' 2nd Annual Reel Black Film Festival will take place from May 13-14, 2006. It will feature a full day of film screenings on the 13th. At noon on Saturday, there will be a panel of filmmakers over a light lunch. Then, at 7:30 that night a special program entitled "From Reel to Real: Hip Hop in the Black Diaspora" will take place. During this program, two films about the global hop hop revolution will be screened, followed by a discussion with the filmmakers. The films, "Inventos: Hip Hop Cubano" by Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi and "Hip Hop Colony" by Michael Wanguhu, are about hip hop in Cuba and Kenya.

On May 14, and all day film competition called "Cinemasports" will take place. Cinemasports is the Iron Chef of Filmmaking. Teams have 10 hours to complete a movie with a list of ingredients. Screening of finished movies on the 11th hour - that very night. Anyone can participate.
