The Reel West: Making Documentary Films

The three Bill Lane Center's Documentary Film Award Winners will present clips of their works in progress. This noontime colloquium will feature brief screenings of all three films, and the directors will discuss their films and filmmaking in general. Erin Hudson will screen a portion of her film about female truckers driving routes through the West entitled, “Long Haul,” and Kathy Huang will take her audience into the world of Chinese-American beauty pageants in her “Miss Chinatown, USA.” Director Ashley Tindall's “Feathers and Coins” constitutes our third film for this event. In her work, Tindall examines the impact of an Indian casino on a small New Mexico town. Join us for a pre-screening of portions of these three fascinating documentaries and a lively discussion about filmmaking in and about the West.
