The Wikimedia Movement

A well-known figure in the world of wikis -- the open content web forum that fosters online discussion and community - Jimmy Wales will be the final speaker in this year's "Futures of Learning" series. Founder of the Wikimedia Foundation, Wales' work aims to develop and maintain open content, wiki-based projects that are accessible to anyone free of charge. In addition to the multilingual general encyclopedia Wikipedia, the Foundation manages a multi-language dictionary and thesaurus, Wiktionary, an encyclopedia of quotations, and collections of e-books for children and adults. Wales will discuss his revolutionary work and the impact of wikis on the world of education and technology.
