Award Winning Teachers on Teaching series: Professor Seth Lerer, "Is Teaching a Calling or a Profession: Teaching Literature in an Uncertain Age."

Award Winning Teacher Professor Seth Lerer,

Avalon Foundation Professor in the Humanities and

professor of English & Comparative Literature, will speak on "Is Teaching a Calling or a Profession: Teaching Literature in an Uncertain Age." This talk will particularly focus on the ways in which literary fields talk about their work as a "profession," and thus, how we professionalize ourselves in our courses - and just what that communicates to our undergraduates, who may come to literature classes

for far different reasons.
