Relay for Life 2006

Relay for Life 2006 at Stanford is a 24-hour fundraiser on Roble Field for the American Cancer Society on May 26th 5 p.m.— 5 p.m. Relay at Stanford is an overnight event that unites our community in a common effort to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The Society works every day to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research, affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people on how to prevent or detect cancer early.

The actual event is a 24-hour team walk around a track on May 26th. The event will feature many student groups and performers, including Setareh, SOUL'D OUT, Stanford Improvisers, Herve Gross, Red Horizon, Peaceable Jones, Jack Conte, Stanford Kenpo Karate Association, Everyday People, Seven Secrets, Jonathan Drucker, Bent Spoon, K.Flay, Gospel Choir, Stanford Chess Club, Nour El Ain Dance Company, Flamenco de Stanford, Axe, and The Seventh Season. The track will be lit by thousands of candles, each commemorating individuals who have lost lives to cancer or are currently fighting the disease.

This year, cancer will strike more than 1.3 million Americans and take more than half a million lives. Almost everyone has been affected by this disease in some manner.

Please stop by at some point on Friday to donate to the cause or simply cheer on friends and family. If you cannot attend but would like to contribute, visit the website of one of Stanford's 47 teams from the Relay homepage. You can donate quickly and easily online using a credit card. Thanks so much and we hope to see you out there!
