Moliere's DON JUAN

STANFORD SUMMER THEATER (SST) is delighted to present a sensuous new staging of Moliere's incomparable "DON JUAN" in a razor-sharp translation by Richard Wilbur. Anarchic comedy and social satire join in this timeless tale of a reckless libertine who rejects the strictures of society, leaving in his wake assorted rivals, creditors and debauched maidens. But if pleasure is the only master and seduction loses its thrill, where does rake turn when Death comes knocking? Join the infamous Don as he defies the heavens in this delicious fable directed by SST veteran Ed Iskandar in Stanford's

picturesque Pigott Theater (August 17 - 27 at 8 PM; no performance on Sunday, August 20).

To rival the deviance and delights of the period, SST inaugurates its own form of theatrical debauchery: Pay what you like for any performance! SST is now priceless!

DON JUAN is part of the Stanford Summer Theater (SST) 2006

Festival WICKED WIT: Rakes and Rebellion in the Restoration also featuring theatrical productions of Amy Freed's dazzling brand new satire "RESTORATION COMEDY," (July 27 - August 13, Thursdays through Sundays at 8 PM) alongside a

free film series, 'LICENSED TO THRILL,' (July 3 - August 21, Mondays at 7 PM) exploring Restoration wit and its underside. Join us in examining contemporary mores through the theatrical lens of the Restoration, when men and women matched their wits (and wigs), where decolletage exposed flaws in even the best of arguments, and outlandish artifice challenged nature to reveal itself for all it was worth.
