o GSPB goes to Great America
- Check out the rides on the park website.
- $20/student copay required (you get a free picnic lunch)
- Sunday, Aug 20, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Paramount's Great America park
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Please make checks payable to "Stanford University" and write GSPB GREAT AMERICA on your envelope.
See below the amount of co-pay required for family members/domestic partners who are not Stanford graduate students. The unsubsidized cost of the event would have been $65/person for park entrance fee + picnic style lunch, so everyone is receiving a subsidy!
The park has rides for all ages and all tastes, so bring your friends or your family along to celebrate the end of summer quarter. Also bring a swimsuit for the fun water rides =)
To sign up, submit an envelope to the EV Housing Office with your check and a separate sheet of paper with the following information:
- full names and student ID# of all grad students in your group (for your non-student spouse pay $30, for your children $25 each, children under 3 years old do not have to pay for admission)
- one email contact for the group
- how many total people can drive with your group? (If you cannot drive and we cannot find you a ride, you must be willing to take public transportation)
Write GSPB GREAT AMERICA on the envelope and make checks payable to "Stanford University"
Graduate students can apply in groups of max. 5 people, one co-pay check per group. The co-pay is needed to reserve your requested number of spots and it is non-refundable if you are later unable to attend. If more people sign up than the available number of spots, a lottery will be held. Priority will be given to people who sign up early. If you are not selected in the lottery, your check will be destroyed.
The deadline to sign up is Aug. 15 at 5pm; final details of the event will be announced to lottery winners by Aug. 16.
F.A.Q.
1) Can I bring friends who don't have a Stanford ID? If yes, how many are allowed with the subsidy?
You can bring a non-Stanford person only if they live together with you and you are in a relationship with them (for example everyone living in EV couples and family housing qualifies). By "relationship" it is meant 'significant other', not just friendship. Sorry to be so restrictive, but we are trying to include as many graduate students as possible in a limited number of spots.
The only case in which non-Stanford grad student friends will be allowed as part of the GSPB-subsidized spots is if there are not enough student sign-ups for the total number of spots we have. Otherwise they will not be selected as part of your group. Feel free to invite any friends to join you though (they can get their own tickets on the web). However, this event is intended for Stanford grad students to get to meet each other.
If you choose to include other friends in your group, please submit separate checks for them and mention which friends are not SU grad students. Failure to do so would disqualify your entire application group.
2) Can I mail in my sign-up envelope?
If you want to mail the envelopes to the EV Office instead, feel free to do so:
