Kronos Quartet

Lauded for their unyielding commitment to expanding the limits of both classical music and string quartet literature, the adventurous Kronos Quartet returns to Lively Arts with an imaginative program including works by three highly innovative composers. Sofia Gubaidulina's Quartet No. 4 is a study in contrasts. In Latvian composer Peteris Vasks' Quartet No. 5, the movements range from emotional turbulence to quiet despair. And in Michael Gordon's The Sad Park, the quartet plays against a backdrop of recordings of children speaking. David Harrington, violin; John Sherba, violin; Hank Dutt, viola; Jeffrey Zeigler, cello.

“Aural beauty is the only way to describe it... The quartet's performance was gut wrenching, breathtaking, and overwhelming.” —Salient Magazine
