So Percussion

Hailed by the New York Times for its “brilliant” and “consistently impressive” performances, So Percussion is one of the country's most exhilarating new-music ensembles. With immense enthusiasm, this venturesome foursome demonstrates the depth and diversity of percussive music, pushing the art form far beyond beats and rhythms. Fusing a myriad of theatrical, musical, and artistic elements, So plays traditional instruments as well as an impressive assortment of objects like clay pots, wooden planks, and dried gourds to create a 'percussion symphony' that features complex rhythmic patterns and ranges from quiet whispers to bell-like tones to intense pulsating beats. The group's Lively Arts debut features works by provocative composers Steve Reich and David Lang.

“The range of colors and voices that So Percussion coaxes from its menagerie is astonishing and entrancing.” —Billboard Magazine
