The film festival showcases films that reflect the quality, range, and vitality of contemporary cinema in Taiwan. The works presented here highlight key tendencies and themes of the film culture that has emerged in the aftermath of the 1980s New Cinema movement, which first brought Taiwanese cinema to the attention of the world.
